Kamala Harris and US officials express their support for women in their protests in Iran

US Vice President, Kamala Harris and other US officials, expressed her praise and admiration for the leadership role of women in the demonstrations that prevail in Iran, during a meeting with activists of Iranian origin.
The Iranian-born actress and advocate for human rights was welcomed by Harris, Anthony Blinken, Jake Sullivan Nazanin, and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan Nazanin.

The President’s office said in a statement that Harris expressed “her support for courageous women and girls who are carrying out peaceful protests in Iran to secure equality in human rights and dignity. ”
The president emphasised how “the globe also inspired her as a result of the boldness of these protests.

” Blinken had previously met Benadi, known as her role in the famous comedy series “Hawi I Met Met Mare”, in addition to the writer Roya Hakakian and a gender equality activist Sherry Hakimi.
Blinken claimed that following Amini’s passing, “and the ensuing spontaneous demonstrations, I believe we are seeing something very spectacular across the nation, led mostly by women and young people.

” During his meeting with Iranian civil society activists, he joined his deputy Windy Sherman and Robert Mali, the US official, who led for months of negotiations with Iran in an attempt to revive the nuclear agreement.
Hakakian claimed that she is working with President Joe Biden and her colleagues to halt nuclear talks that would result in the easing of sanctions on Iran.

We unanimously proposed to halt nuclear discussions until the violence ceases, and I believe everyone heard us clearly and loudly, she said on the American “NBR” radio.
John Kirby, a spokesperson for the White House, acknowledged on Thursday that although the United States continues to support the nuclear agreement, an agreement is unlikely “at any time in the foreseeable future.”
Iranian President Ibrahim accused the leaders of the US of inciting the demonstrations in an effort to topple Iran.

After hearing similar charges that the protests are being orchestrated from overseas, Blinken said he expected this to be the case, but he added of the Iranian leadership that “if this is the truth, if they thought this honestly, they primarily do not understand their people.”

Iranian women’s protests are supported by Kamala Harris and US politicians.
