American Senator: Biden may suspend arms sales to Saudi Arabia

In the middle of a current disagreement between Washington and Riyadh on the decision to reduce oil production, US Senator Senator Chris Konz stated that President Joe Biden is likely to suspend new arms shipments to Saudi Arabia.
According to Konz, a senator from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, “I expect that both the American administration and the Senate will take measures, and one of the most likely remedies is to suspend any weapons shipments in the future to Saudi Arabia.”

These remarks come as the Biden administration escalates its verbal conflict with Riyadh in light of Saudi Arabia’s backing for a two million barrel per day reduction in oil production.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinkkin said yesterday, Thursday, that his nation would examine the effects of the OPEC+’s decision to cut oil production on relations between Washington and Riyadh.

In the context, the White House classified the decision of OPEC +as “up to the level of moral and military support” the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
On Wednesday, Saudi Arabia refuted claims that the country’s decision to lower oil production was motivated by politics.

On October 5, the “OPEC +” coalition announced the reduction of production by two million barrels per day starting next November, which led to the increase in oil prices by about 10 percent, before it declined slightly this week.
