Al -Baja: We will not accept any settlement in Sudan unless we are part of it

News from Al-Madinah: After optimistic statements about Sudan approached a solution that ends the political crisis between the military and civil custodians, the political secretary of the Supreme Council of Beja Sayyids Sayed Ali Abu Amna announced that the political forces in the east of the country will not accept any political settlement that is not part of it.

In a statement released today, Saturday, he stated that the alternative would include the Senkat Conference’s provisions for the right to self-determination.
He also added that his forces will take escalatory steps, including a return to close the region.

In the midst of these developments, sources within the council expressed concerns about the potential for armed confrontations with the Khartoum administration in the event that calls to cancel the East Path were not heeded, which would mark a return to the circumstances in the area in 1994.

It also came after the UN envoy to Sudan Volker Peretz made optimistic statements, pointing out that a solution to the crisis was close, and pointed to the existence of an agreement between the parties on a transitional period that does not exceed two years.
He also emphasised how much better the mood is now than it was three months ago and how crucial it is to find a solution for the compatibility of all parts, including the military.

Abdel-Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sovereign Council and Commander of the Armed Forces, renewed the broadcast of hopes in response. He emphasised that existing evidence point toward the coming together of the nation’s major players in an agreement.
According to a statement released by his office earlier today, he also emphasised that both the military institution and an estimated portion of the political forces made concessions in order to fulfil the desires of the people.

Notably, the beja glasses are seen as supporters of the armed forces and the extraordinary measures put in place in October of last year, when they proclaimed a state of emergency and the collapse of the government, but the “East Path and the Peace Agreement” conflict is still unresolved.

After protests were organised in the port of Port Sudan against the historic peace agreement signed by the transitional government led by Abdullah Hamdouk at the time in October 2020 in the city of Juba with a number of movements and tribes that took up arms, the east of the country experienced a crisis last September (2021). Despite the armed forces’ mediation, violence occasionally threatened to return to that square throughout the administration of the deposed President Omar al-Bashir. This is especially true in the absence of a resolution.

It is noteworthy that Sudan, which is one of the poorest countries in the world, is still drowned since October 25, 2021, when the army imposed exceptional measures and the solution of the previous government, in political and economic recession despite all international endeavors to launch dialogue sessions that lead to a solution between civilians and military personnel.
