The reconstruction of Taiwan through peaceful means is the first choice for resolving the issue, according to Sun Yahi Lee, a spokesman for the 20th National Conference of the Communist Party of China. He added that using non-peaceful measures will remain a last resort.
Son reportedly stated at a press conference that “we did not promise to abandon the use of power,” that “we do not in any way target our citizens from the people of Taiwan,” and that instead, “we aim for foreign intervention and a very small fragrance of Taiwan’s independence elements and separatist activities.”
Sun urged the people living on either side of the Taiwan Strait to band together and strongly reject the forces of “Taiwan Independence” in order to restore peaceful union.
Chinese official: Our first preference is to resolve the Taiwan problem peacefully.
