15 workers stuck under the soil in Turkey … and pictures of families crying

28 people have now died and another 28 have been injured as a result of the explosion at a coal mine in northwest Turkey, and rescuers are still working to find dozens of workers who became trapped inside.
The explosion occurred at 18. 15 (15. 15 GMT) Friday, in a mine in the city of Amasra, which is on the Black Sea, and killed 28 people, according to a new toll revealed by the Turkish Minister of Health Fakhruddin Qawa on Twitter.

He also said that 11 individuals had been taken out of the mine and were being treated there.
According to AFP, Interior Minister Suleiman Sweilo later said that 15 people were still trapped in the mine as of Saturday morning.
In the meantime, Energy Minister Fateh Dunmiz reported that “a gas explosion occurred according to the first notes.”
The explosion was caused by a fault in an electric transformer, according to a tweet from the Turkish Public Authority for Disaster Management that went out first on Twitter.

But she went on to say that “unknown circumstances” were the cause of some methane gas being detected.
This comes while rescue teams are making arduous efforts to try to save dozens of workers who were stuck in the mine at a depth of 300 and 350 meters below sea level.

As the rescuers provide oxygen to the workers who are taken from the mine and sent to the closest hospitals, pictures from the mine entrance shown by the local media showed that the families of the stranded miners, many of whom are crying.
While the accident was being investigated by the local prosecutor’s office.

It is interesting that work-related events are frequently reported in Turkey, where substantial economic growth occurred over the previous ten years at the price of safety regulations, particularly in the mining and construction industries.
The country suddenly realized this after an accident in 2014 in Soma, in the west of the country, where 301 workers were killed in a coal mine after an explosion and fire that led to the collapse of a well.

In addition, five miners found guilty of carelessness received 22 years and 6 months in prison from Turkish courts.
