Washington renews its criticism of Saudi Arabia because of OPEC Plus Reducing Oil Production

The decision by OPEC Plus to the oil-exporting nations led by Saudi Arabia and Russia to limit oil output by two million barrels per day, beginning at the start of next month, prompted the American administration to resume its verbal conflict with Saudi Arabia.

Washington claimed to have informed the Kingdom that there was no justification for reducing production given the state of the market and urged that it be delayed until after the midterm elections for the American Congress early the next month.

According to the Bloomberg News Agency, John Kirby, the spokesperson for the US National Security Council, made his remarks one day after Saudi Arabia rejected American criticism of its decision to reduce production, claiming that it was made with “noble goals” in mind, such as preventing oil market volatility, rather than for political reasons.

The decision to reduce production, according to Kirby’s explanation, is not based on market conditions. He went on to say that Riyadh and its fellow participants in the meeting could “wait until the next OPEC meeting to see how things are developing.” The United States had provided Saudi Arabia with analyses that explained this.
“Other countries in OPEC have communicated with the United States secretly and said they rejected the decision of Saudi Arabia, but it was forced to support Saudi Arabia’s orientation,” he added.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs may change or veer, but the current events are clear-cut, he continued. The Saudis have informed us secretly and the publicity of their intention to reduce oil production, and they know that it will increase Russian resources and reduce the effectiveness of the sanctions.

“An official source in the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today that the Kingdom’s government was briefed on the statements made about it after the release of OPEC Plus last week. These statements included describing the decision as a bias in the Kingdom in international conflicts and that it was based on political motives against the United States.

According to a source cited by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), “The government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will start at the beginning by expressing its complete rejection of these statements that are not based on the facts and depend on its basis on the attempt to photograph OPEC Plus outside of its pure economic framework, which is a decision made unanimously by all OPEC Plus Group countries.
