Trio of pedestrians hit by cars in nearby Calgary neighbourhoods on Thursday

On Thursday afternoon in the Vista Heights neighbourhood of Calgary, two pedestrians were struck by cars just a few hundred metres apart.
The first occurred at the intersection of Valleyview Road and 19 Street N. E. shortly before 4 p.m.
Police and EMS verified that a car struck a five-year-old child. The Alberta Children’s Hospital received that child’s transfer.
A 50-year-old male was also struck about 5 p.m. at 19 Street and 18 Avenue N. E.

– only a little over 200 metres from the first incident — in what Calgary police described as a hit-and-run.
The man was being taken to the hospital, according to EMS, and was in a serious but stable condition.
The third collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian was at Centre Street and 56 Avenue N. E. at just before 5:30 p. m, in nearby Thorncliffe.
There, a child was struck by a car and suffered non-critical injuries, according to EMS.

The motorist in that event, according to the police, remained on the scene.
Police are asking anyone with information about the hit-and-run to call the CPS non-emergency line at 403-266-1234..
