The United Nations General Assembly condemns Russia

By a vote of 143 to 35, the United Nations General Assembly recently denounced Russia, including four areas of Ukraine. Five countries were barred from voting.
Along with Russia, Belarus, Nicaragua, North Korea, and Syria also voiced disapproval, although supporters of Ukraine profited from the fact that the decision received two more votes on top of the 141 that initially denounced the Russian military intervention in Ukraine half a year prior.

Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Brazil all backed the practise.
Major nations like China and India, however, chose not to participate.
Notably, the process is not legally binding, but it gives a sense of how the world feels about Russia and its conflict with Ukraine. The ruling declared the annexation to be unconstitutional and demanded that Russia cease its efforts to annex the eastern Ukrainian provinces of Donetsk, Jeruson, Luhansk, and Zaburigia.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, for his part, referred to the situation as a “powerful reminder that the world is standing with Ukraine, in defence of the United Nations Charter” in a tweet posted on his Twitter account.
