Following a shooting in a North Carolina neighbourhood today, “four or five other persons” in addition to one police officer are dead.
The shooting suspect, an unidentified white teenage boy, is still at large, according to ABC 11.
Gov. Roy Cooper stated that “State and local officers are on the scene and trying to stop the gunman and keep people safe.”
In a tweet, the Raleigh Police Department said that it was “on the scene of an active shooting” and instructed locals to remain inside their houses.
A message seeking response was not immediately answered by a police official.
No other information was immediately available, but at least three victims connected to the incident were receiving treatment Thursday evening (local time) at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, according to a hospital spokesperson, Deb Laughery.
WRAL-TV reported that multiple police cars and an ambulance have responded to the scene, northeast of downtown Raleigh.
