Today marks the passing of the Prince of Poets, Ahmed Shawky, who passed away on this day in 1932. Ahmed Shawky is unquestionably the most well-known Arab poet of the contemporary era, having revived Arab poetry after a protracted period of obscurity and retreat.
On October 16, 1868, he was born in Cairo’s Hanafi quarter.
Jeddah served as the bridesmaid in the Khedive Ismail Palace for Ahmed Shawky’s mother.
He was raised by his grandma starting at an early age.

His grandmother raised him in the Khedive Palace.
Ahmed Shawky attended Mrs. Zainab’s class in the book of Sheikh Saleh, the Al-Mutdadian Primary School, and the Secondary School.
As a reward for his superiority, he was set free.
Later, in 1885 A.D., he enrolled in law school and became associated with the translation division.
After graduating from the school of law, the Khedive is appointed in his own.

The Khedive was dispatched to France a year after being appointed to finish his studies there. He spent 3 years there and returned in 1893 with his diploma.
He assisted his missionary colleagues in establishing the “Egyptian Progress Association” while on assignment in France.
The association was one of the forms of national action against the English occupation, and then a strong friendship with the leader Mustafa Kamel.

While he was in France, he used to send the Khedive poetry of praise.
He became the palace poet after arriving back in France, and he was close to Khedive Abbas Helmy.
When he returned to Egypt, he launched his office, “Al -Shawqiyat”, and the first part was issued in 1898 AD.
In 1914 AD, Shawky was the leading literary figure in Egypt, as he was a poet with abundant production, and contrasting between poetry, stories, and poetic plays.

Shawky used his poetry as a weapon against the British occupation.
1914 saw Shawky deny to Spain.
During his four-year exile, he was able to witness the acclaim of Arab literature, the Andalusian Muslim civilisation, and poetry systems.
Writing poetry theatre is a fantastic artistic creation by Shawky.
The poetry theatre was seen in the murders of Ali Bey Al-Kabeer, Majnoun Laila, Qambiz, and Cleopatra.
Shawky was pledged allegiance to poets in 1927.

The Arab poets Khalil Mutran, Hafiz Ibrahim, Amin Nakhleh, and the Sabli Malat received Shawky’s oath of fealty.
Hafez Ibrahim singled out a poem when he pledged allegiance to him: The Prince of Al -Qawafi has come to pledge allegiance to the eastern delegations..
