Northern Macedonia arrests 26 Syrian immigrants near Greece

26 Syrian immigrants were detained by northern Macedonia police as they attempted to flee in two automobiles close to the southern Greek border.
The two drivers stopped the two cars late on Wednesday night when they noticed a barrier in front of them, according to a statement from the police, and one of them may have managed to flee with the passengers. The incident occurred close to the town of Valandovo. Both of them are from North Macedonia, with one being a Serb.

The suspect might receive a five-year prison sentence if found guilty of smuggling migrants. The migrants who will be sent back to Greece most likely entered the country without authorization from Greece and travelled north through North Macedonia and Serbia to reach richer European nations.
