Nocturne returns to Halifax for 15th year with the theme ‘Legacies’

This weekend, Halifax will host the 15th edition of Nocturne.
Legacies is the topic for this year.
One of Nocturne’s curators Stephanie Yee told Global News Morning on Friday it’s “an invitation to not just artists but everyone that we share a community with, to really reflect on what is your relationship with this place, what is your relationship to each other.

We genuinely desired to be able to consider the history, the present, and imagine what the future might contain.
It also addresses how creativity “has the capacity to make changes within us, as well as exterior to us,” according to curator Lux Habrich.
The festival kicked off on Thursday, and will feature numerous events over the weekend, as well as public art installations that can be seen at any time.

At the Dartmouth ferry station, there is a sizable sculpture that Yee called one exciting element.
You’ll be able to see the entire city covered in artistic reimaginings, according to Yee.
Even though rain is predicted for this weekend, the curators say all events will proceed as scheduled.
Habrich continued, “We have a few outdoor events that are designed to embrace whatever occurs.
The two curators have previously participated in Nocturne as artists.

The fact that they are curators for the first time this year excites them both.
Yee described working with artists as “a joy” and putting their ideas into practise.
Habrich agreed and said having participated as an artist gave them a great perspective to help artists reach their full potential.
Thursday night, according to the curator, was a success.

“Seeing the audience respond so enthusiastically to the work we’ve put so much thought into felt extremely exciting… It’s very amazing to see,” remarked Habrich.
They now eagerly anticipate witnessing people taking part in the remaining weekend activities.
The website of Nocturne has more details about programming.

The theme of Nocturne’s 15th annual performance in Halifax is Legacies.
