Netflix Canada unveils $5.99 ad-supported subscription package

If Canadian users are willing to endure commercial breaks, Netflix is offering a more affordable monthly subscription package.
The streaming behemoth claims that it has set November 1 as the debut date for its new $5. 99 per month ad-supported streaming tier in Canada.
The cost is much lower than Netflix’s ad-free plans, which have monthly starting prices of $9. 99 and maximum prices of $20. 99.

Netflix claims that in exchange for the cost savings, users would see four to five minutes of advertisements every hour that will play before and during their TV series and movies.
The ad-tier will not include all of Netflix’s content, and subscribers will not be able to download movies for offline viewing.
According to Netflix, the addition of the ad tier will not have an impact on the cost for its current plans.

The new streaming service from the corporation comes as it tries to draw in budget-conscious clients and discover a new source of income from advertisers who, according to the company, will have access to “younger viewers who increasingly don’t watch linear TV.”
Several of Netflix’s rivals in the United States have previously introduced ad-supported packages that exchange sporadic commercial breaks for a lower monthly price.

The options include HBO Max, Peacock, and Paramount Plus in the United States, while Disney Plus has announced plans to launch its own version in the near future.
The advertising tier of Netflix is launching in Canada two days before it does in the majority of other major regions. On November 3, it will introduce the option in a number of nations, including the US, Brazil, France, and the UK.
