Lewandowski to Benzema: You will win the golden ball, but on condition

When he was representing Bayern Munich, the current Barcelona striker was the favourite to win the coveted individual award given to the best player in the world in 2020. However, the presentation was postponed for the first time since the honor’s inception in 1956 due to the Korona virus outbreak.

Lewandowski received a commendable honour in 2021 when he was named “striker,” but Lionel Messi of Paris Saint-Germain took home the Golden Ball Award for the seventh time in his career.
Lewandowski said on the Mofestar channel on Thursday that Benzema “could be one of the candidates to win the Golden Ball.”
He added: “If they do not cancel (the award), it is possible that he will win this golden ball.

After helping Real Madrid win the Champions League and the Spanish League last season and being named the two competitions’ top scorer, the striker “Duke” and Real Madrid will in fact advance to all of its rivals in the award of winning the prize offered by “France Football” in the next Monday party in Paris.

Lewandowski’s 15 goals in the venerable mother continental competition on his route to winning the decisive match versus Saint-Germain helped Bayern Munich win the local league and the Champions League crowns in the 2019–2020 season.
“I wanted to tell Robert Lewandowski that it is a huge honour to face him,” stated Messi at the 2021 celebration. “He deserved to win it last year.”

You will win the golden ball, but only if, says Lewandowski to Benzema.
