Grusi: We made progress on the establishment of a safe area around Zaburigia

The creation of a safe region around the Zaburigia nuclear power station has advanced, according to Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
In a tweet posted to his Twitter account today, Thursday, he clarified this and included a photo of himself and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dimtero Coleba.
According to Grusi, the situation at the Zaburigia nuclear power facility is still “worrying,” as he previously told reporters.

After his trip to Russia, he continued in his speech in Kyiv by saying that “nothing has changed.”
Grusi pointed out that the International Atomic Energy Agency continues to pressure to establish a demilitarized zone around the nuclear station, which means “not launching attacks against the station and not using the station as a tool for attack.

According to the Associated Press, he added that the agency thinks the Russians want to offer security because they are “working with him.”
But Grusi was adamant that he had not yet heard from Russian President Vladimir Putin expressing his willingness to speak with the International Atomic Energy Agency about the final “standards” that would provide a secure solution for the biggest nuclear power plant in Europe during the conflict.

Notably, the situation surrounding the huge nuclear plant has drawn attention on a global scale over the past few months, particularly in light of the bombing exchange between Russian and Ukrainian forces. The International Atomic Energy Agency has repeatedly warned of the seriousness of the situation, calling for the establishment of a “security area”, to avoid any unimaginable nuclear accident.

The largest nuclear energy facility in all of Europe, the station has been in Russian control since early March, although Moscow and Kayef have traded claims of bombing it for months.

The station on the southern side of a sizable tank on the Denbero River, which divides the Russian and Ukrainian forces, was seized as a result of this complex, and more than 20% of Ukraine’s electrical requirements were met.
