FAO: Breaking food chains may lead to a lack of fertilizers in the next year

The disruption of food chains and logistical ties with Russia could lead to a scarcity of fertilisers the next year, according to Oleg Kubakov, director of the Food and Agriculture Organization for relations with “FAO” Russia.
Kubakov said in a press conference that global production and exports may lead to the loss of Russian fertilizer’s share to the fact that fertilizers will not be available next year for many countries and producers.

He stated that “the high prices of fertilisers due to the breaking of commercial chains and the high energy prices and above all due to the escalation of the political situation in the world and the breaking of supplies” are some of the causes of the impending scarcity.
He clarified: “Since their prices would fluctuate, it is challenging to rapidly replace these chains. As a result, fertilisers will be smaller, especially in developing nations “.

FAO: Food chain disruptions could result in a shortage of fertilisers in the upcoming year.
