NATO: They are committed to deepening partnership with Moldova

NATO’s Deputy Secretary-General, Mirchia Giwana, praised Moldova’s contributions to global security and reaffirmed the alliance’s commitment to strengthening its collaboration with her.
This information was shared by Geyana and Anatoli Nosachi, the defence minister of the Republic of Moldova, at a meeting on Wednesday at the NATO headquarters in Brussels, the capital of Belgium.

Giwana thanked Moldova for her efforts to NATO’s Kosovo operation in a news statement released by the alliance’s media office. He also hailed Moldovans for being welcoming of Ukrainian refugees who were forced to evacuate due to Russian strikes on Ukraine.

He emphasised that NATO is committed to strengthening its relationship with Moldova, including by improving flexibility and civil preparation. He also welcomed Moldova’s status as a candidate for membership in the European Union, saying that NATO and the EU will continue to work closely together to ensure that the support provided by both organisations aims to support democratic reforms and modernise the security and defence sector in Moldova.

Jiona reiterated that NATO respects the Republic of Moldova’s constitutional neutrality and fully supports its territorial integrity and national sovereignty.
