Marquette Poll: Johnson expands lead over Barnes, governor race tightens

Wisconsin’s MILWAUKEE (WBAY) – According to a recent Marquette University Law School poll, Republican U.S. Senator Ron Johnson now has a larger advantage over Democratic opponent Mandela Barnes.
Less than a month remain before the general election on November 8 when the poll was revealed on Wednesday.
52 percent of likely voters back Johnson, while 46 percent back Barnes. Johnson had a 49 percent to 48 percent advantage in September.
Johnson is also popular with independents.

According to the poll, Johnson is supported by 51% while Barnes is supported by 45%. This is a change from August, when Barnes had a 55 to 40 percent advantage among independents.
The campaign for governor of Wisconsin is still close. Republican challenger Tim Michels gets 4.6 percent support, while Democratic Governor Tony Evers has 47 percent. From September, when Evers led 47-44, the race became more competitive.
43 percent of independents back Evers, while 44 percent back Michels.

Evers was in the lead among independents in September.
For voters, inflation is still the major concern. 68 percent of people claim to be “extremely concerned” about inflation. Public schools, gun violence, abortion, crime, a reliable vote count, taxes, illegal immigration, and coronavirus are the following issues.
According to the poll, 30% are against legalising marijuana while 64% are in favour.
33 percent of eligible voters support the United States’ abortion laws.

60 percent of people disagree with the decision of the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Inquiries were taken from Oct. 3–9, 2022. 652 of the 810 registered voters in Wisconsin who were interviewed for the poll were considered likely voters. The error margin among likely votes was +/- 4.8%.
