B.C. kitten with deformed leg requires amputation, says SPCA

Omeck the cat needs financial assistance, and the BC SPCA is asking for your support.
The cute nine-week-old kitten, who was born with a limb abnormality, will have to have its leg amputated.
Poppy, Omeck’s mother, was in the last stages of pregnancy when she was turned over to the SPCA’s Sea to Sky branch, according to Krista Larson, manager.
She was placed in a foster home, where a short while later she gave birth to a litter of kittens. Omeck tragically lost two siblings soon after birth.

Although her limb disability doesn’t prevent her from playing with her siblings or from moving around, according to the SPCA, it interferes with her sprinting.
Unfortunately, Omeck’s limb is not functional, therefore having it amputated is the wisest course of action, according to Larson.
According to the SPCA, a surgery will be scheduled soon, followed by many weeks of care. Additionally, the kitten will require vaccinations and spaying. But once she has recovered, Omeck will be available for adoption.

Larson says Omeck is sweet and affectionate and, like a true kitten, she plays hard and sleeps hard.
