The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced today, Wednesday, the killing of a Palestinian youth during confrontations with the Israeli army in Al -Aroub camp, in the occupied West Bank.
Osama Mahmoud Adawi, 18, was shot in the abdomen in the Al-Aroub camp, south of Bethlehem, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.
According to the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa), Israeli troops and Palestinian youth protesting Israeli army activities engaged in physical altercations near the entrance of Al-Aroub camp.
For his part, the Israeli army said in a statement: “A short time ago, a number of suspects threw stones on the main street near the Al -Uroub camp, to harm Israeli vehicles on it, which endangers the lives of civilians who drive cars there at risk.
The soldiers from the Israeli army who were present in the vicinity kept an eye on the suspects close to the Al-Aroub camp and opened fire when necessary, injuring one of them, the statement continued.
Clashes are taking place in various parts of the West Bank, during which two Palestinians were wounded by the Israeli army, on Wednesday, according to the Red Crescent and the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
Wednesday saw a strike in East Jerusalem in opposition to the Israeli government’s forced closure of the Shuafat refugee camp and the continuation of a major search for the Israeli soldier’s shooter.
A checkpoint dividing the Shuafat camp from East Jerusalem was the target of a Saturday attack that claimed the life of the soldier. As a result, a wide search and chase began for the outlet, which is still free.
Schools and healthcare facilities were shuttered by Israeli police, and skirmishes broke out between them and Palestinian teenagers who ignited tyres and flung stones.
The “Black den” organisation claimed responsibility for the Tuesday killing of another Israeli soldier in Nablus, which was also the target of the strike.
On Wednesday, the Israeli army announced that it had put up barricades and restricted highways near the city of Nablus.
The Ministry of Health said on Monday that a 12-year-old child who was injured last month during an Israeli military operation in the city of Jenin has passed away. Israeli troops are believed to have killed four minors in the West Bank since Friday, according to the Ministry of Health.
During clashes with the Israeli army in the West Bank, a Palestinian was killed.
