An expert reveals the reasons for the high number of Turkish asylum seekers in Europe

According to reports in European media, the number of Turkish people seeking refuge in nations of the European Union has surged. How many of these people arrived in Europe this year, and did they do so legally? And why should they leave their country if there isn’t a war or other violent conflict there?
The “Eurasia Research and Plules Center” director, Kamal Ozkiraz, suggested that the number of Turks who have been granted asylum in European nations is significantly higher than the figure recently disclosed by a Swiss media, which stated in its report that 10,000 and 60 people from Turkey have applied for asylum during the next eight months of 2022 in a number of European nations, including Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.

“The information reported by European sites regarding the high number of Turkish asylum seekers is entirely accurate, and many European countries can no longer receive reception of visa requests as is the case with the German embassy and consulates in Turkey because of the accumulation of a large number of these requests that require time to address them, ” he continued.

He went on to say, “The reasons for immigration from Turkey and the requests for asylum in European countries are primarily due to the decline in the economy and the high unemployment rates, as well as the decline in freedoms and the suppression of youth activities like festivals, as well as the fact that the predominant belief among young people is not to improve the economy even if the government changes, which is also contributing to their migration.

In the past, European nations, particularly Germany, easily granted travel visas to Turkish passport holders, but today they reject the majority of visa requests made by Turks as a result of an increase in the number of asylum seekers and those who do not honour the terms of their visas.

Unofficial estimates claim that there were over 30,000 Turks who applied for asylum in European nations this year, but other sources claim that their numbers had increased to over 10,000 over the previous eight months due to the majority of them settling in Germany, where they currently hold the fourth position among Turks who applied for asylum.

The Turks come in fourth, followed by asylum applicants from Moldova, Eritrea, Somalia, and Iran, with Syrians coming in top, then Afghans, Iraqis, and then Afghans again.

The German Immigration and Asylum Office estimates that roughly half of the Turks who apply for asylum have already been granted the right, allowing them to obtain a residence card inside German territory, while the other half of those who reject the authorities’ offers of asylum either settle in Germany illegally or file lawsuits to do so.

The causes of the large number of Turkish asylum seekers in Europe are revealed by an expert.
