Brighton midfielder Mwepo is forced to retire due to a heart problem

Enoch Mwebo, a 24-year-old midfielder for Brighton, was forced to retire after learning that he had a serious cardiac condition.
The Zambian player felt ill while travelling to meet his colleagues, thus he was unable to represent his nation during the most recent international break.
Mwebo received testing in Brighton after spending some time at a hospital in Mali, and the results showed that he had an inherited heart condition.

The illness, which could get worse over time, could significantly increase ENOC’s risk of having a heart attack if he keeps playing competitive football, according to a statement from Brighton.
A child from the small Zambian village of Chambishi has some news to give, Mwibo wrote when he shared his tale on Twitter. By God’s grace, he succeeded in realising his desire to play professional football at the greatest level and made it to the Premier League.

However, some dreams must come to an end, therefore I regretfully announce that, per medical advice, I must retire. However, I intend to continue in some way, so this is not the end of my involvement with football.
Mwebo signed a four-year contract to join Brighton from Red Bull Salzburg in July 2021. He scored twice for the squad in 18 Premier League games the previous year.
Mwebo has played six times for Brighton so far this year.
