More than 72 dead and missing in Venezuela

According to Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodrigues, a landslide in the industrial community of Las Tejerias, 70 kilometres southwest of Caracas, claimed the lives of 22 individuals and left more than 50 others missing.
According to Rodrigues, “We have recorded considerable damage and casualties, and so far we have located 22 dead while 52 people are missing.” Journalists from AFP observed substantial damage.

The El Pato River, which flows 67 kilometres southwest of Caracas, overflowed and wiped away a number of homes, businesses, and a slaughterhouse, according to the search and rescue organisations.
A deputy minister in charge of the nation’s civil protection system, Carlos Perez, wrote on Twitter on Sunday that “1,000 rescue personnel are working in the search for victims in the region.”
13 people lost their lives three weeks ago when the nation was devastated by violent downpours.

Several states around the nation, including Tachira (west), were destroyed by bad weather.

Venezuela has more than 72 people missing and dead.
