Diesel jumps 13 cents overnight in N.S. after interrupter clause invoked

Following the application of an interrupter clause on Saturday night, the price of diesel in Nova Scotia increased.
Nova Scotians now pay a minimum of $2.26 per litre for self-service diesel at the pump after a 13. 7 cent increase in price.
Residents of Cape Breton continue to pay the highest gas prices. The current price range for diesel in the area is $2. 28 to $2. 30 per litre.
On Friday afternoon, the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board (NSUARB) made the announcement that it will exercise its interrupter provision to change the price of fuel.

The utility stated in a release that “this modification is essential due to major swings in the market pricing of diesel oil.”
Three days previously, an interrupter clause was used to increase the price of diesel, which resulted in an increase of 11.9%.
The interrupter had no impact on the price of gasoline, which has not changed since Friday.
However, on Friday, just before the Thanksgiving holiday, gas pump prices increased by eight cents. The minimal payment made by Nova Scotians is $1.

Regular self-serve gasoline costs 65 cents per litre. The price per litre for Cape Breton residents can go to $1. 69.

After the interrupter clause is used, diesel prices in NS increase by 13 cents over night.
