When part of a trial experiment to determine whether it is conceivable to utilise railroads to ship harvests as marine routes are closed due to the war, a train filled with grain from Ukraine has arrived in Spain, the ministry stated on Saturday.
The majority of crops are often shipped via Ukraine’s ports on the Black Sea, one of the greatest grain-producing nations and one of its key exporters.
A freight train operated by the Spanish government-owned enterprise “Renvi” was launched on August 9 from Madrid to the Polish city of Helm as part of this initiative. The train, which is 2,400 kilometres from the Polish city and near to the Ukrainian border, comprises of 25 containers, each measuring 12 metres in length, and is laden with 600 tonnes of Ukrainian grain.
According to a statement from the Spanish Ministry of Transport, the train made two stops in Lodz in central Poland and Duisburg in western Germany before arriving in Catalonia’s capital on Thursday night. Printed by the Ukrainian conflict.
The ministry continued, “The initiative has proved that long-distance rail transit in the current environment demands a considerable coordination effort amongst the numerous stakeholders involved in the process.
