US Assistant Secretary of State heads to Germany and Brussels to discuss climate crisis

For her speech at the Berlin Conference on Climate and Security, US Assistant Secretary of State for Oceanic, Environmental, and International Scientific Affairs Monica Medina will travel to Germany on Monday. She will discuss the effects of climate change and global warming on peace and security, placing special emphasis on the need to develop early warning systems and resilience.

She will meet with German government counterparts when she is in Berlin to discuss shared priorities in preserving biodiversity, advancing ocean sustainability, and combating the climate crisis, according to a statement on the US State Department’s website today, Saturday.

According to the statement, Monica Medina is scheduled to travel to Belgium from next Tuesday through Thursday, October 13, to lead the American delegation at a meeting of the US-EU Consultative Group on Scientific and Technological Cooperation. She will also meet with nongovernmental organisation representatives and government officials to discuss environmental priorities, such as the climate crisis, threats to biodiversity, and illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing.

To discuss the climate problem, the US Assistant Secretary of State travels to Germany and Brussels.
