Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Asoumi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s support for Somalia’s efforts to overcome the obstacles it faces and emphasised the Parliament’s eagerness to strengthen cooperation with Somalia at this crucial juncture in order to realise the hopes and aspirations of the Somali people for stability, peace, and economic development.
He praised the state’s efforts under the leadership of the Somali President, “Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud,” to combat terrorism as well as its efforts to address the country’s drought crisis in his meeting with the new Somali deputies in the Arab Parliament today, Saturday. He urged the international community to support Somalia in this adversity.
The new Somali deputies, for their part, lauded the Speaker of the Arab Parliament’s efforts to support and strengthen the system of collective Arab action and to work to create new initiatives and strategies that help to address problems, crises, and challenges that the region’s nations are currently facing.
The deputies expressed their congratulations to the Speaker of Parliament on the occasion of his election to a second term, praising the important role performed by the Arab Parliament and its work to promote parliamentary diplomacy in order to advance the process of cooperative Arab action.
