Reuters: An American reconnaissance plane flew near the “North Stream” area, hours after gas leaked from it

Following the gas leak accident on September 26, Reuters claimed that a US Navy reconnaissance jet flew close to the “North Stream” pipeline region.
A P-8A Poseidon flew over the North Sea at 00:03 GMT, when Swedish seismologists discovered an explosion in the Baltic Sea, southeast of the Danish island of Bornholm, according to data released by the agency on Friday.

The statistics show that the American aircraft, which took off from Iceland, completed a typical trip over Poland before continuing on to the region where the gas pipes are located.
After leaving Bornholm Island shortly after 01:00 GMT, the aircraft went southward towards Poland. It passed over Poland for almost an hour and a half before turning toward the leak’s location at around 02:44 GMT.

According to researchers, the plane flew 24 kilometres away from the disaster site as it approached the Russian city of Kaliningrad, which is constantly under US monitoring.
According to Reuters, there is no information about the plane’s trip between 03:39 GMT and 06:20 GMT, however on the way back, the plane flew 4 kilometres away from the accident scene at around 07:00 GMT.
The websites Radarbox and Flightradar24 provided the data on which Reuters based its analysis.

According to flight tracking data, the Navy’s P-8A Poseidon aircraft conducted a regular reconnaissance trip over the Baltic Sea unconnected to the leak from the “North Stream” pipelines, a US Navy spokesman said.
When asked if the reconnaissance data gathered by the plane would aid the crash investigation, Capt. Tamara Lawrence, a spokesperson for the US Naval Forces in Europe and Africa, declined to provide more information.
