North Korea: missile tests are self-defense measures against US threats

In response to the United Nations aviation agency’s criticism of its most recent ballistic test, North Korea claimed on Saturday that its most recent missile launches were “routine self-defense” measures against US military threats.
The DPRK’s National Aviation Administration issued a statement in which it stated: “The DPRK’s missile test is a systematic and planned action to defend the country’s security and regional peace from direct military threats from the United States that have been present for more than 50 years.

“North Korea’s continued firing of ballistic missiles over or close to international air routes without prior notification has been deemed a serious threat to the safety of civil aviation by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a United Nations agency that specialises in dealing with issues related to international air navigation.
North Korea, for its part, asserted that the safety of other nations’ civil aviation was unaffected or not in any way threatened by its missile testing.

She denounced the International Civil Aviation Organization’s action and clarified that its missile activities are intended to oppose US military threats.
The National Aviation Administration of the North said, “We unequivocally condemn and oppose this as a political provocation by the United States and its proxy forces aimed at violating the sovereignty of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.”
