North Korea defends its missile tests: These are our goals

Six missile launches by North Korea in 12 days including Tuesday’s launch of a medium-range missile over Japan.
According to a representative for the aviation administration, “our missile tests are a normal and planned measure of self-defense, to safeguard the security of our nation and regional peace from direct US military threats.”

The missile tests “did not pose any threat or harm to the safety of civil aviation, as well as the safety of adjacent nations and areas, by thoroughly considering the safety of civil aviation in advance,” the official was quoted by the agency as saying.

According to the agency, the letter was written in reaction to the ICAO Council’s recent statement that North Korea’s missile testing pose a major risk to the security of global civil aviation.
An American aircraft carrier participated in combined naval drills between the US and South Korea on Friday, a day after Seoul had reportedly ordered fighter fighters to take flight in reaction to North Korea’s bombing practise.

Additionally, in reaction to North Korea’s most recent missile testing, the United States unveiled fresh sanctions against the country.
