Blue Jays playoff series creating “buzz” in Saskatoon

Many people all throughout the nation are anticipating the Toronto Blue Jays’ postseason run with excitement.
Saskatoon is one city where their popularity is growing.
It’s wonderful because kids say things like, “I want to be like Vladdy, I want to be like Bo Bichette,” according to John Povhe, president of baseball Saskatoon.
Blake Suchan, age 9, plays baseball in the city. Seven-year-old Kellen and Maddux, her brothers, also participate in the game.
George Springer, a centre fielder for the Blue Jays, is Blake’s favourite player.

He makes excellent plays and incredibly good hits. I try to keep working out harder and harder to play baseball like him because I want to be just like him.
Her siblings, meanwhile, developed interests in other blue and white players.
Kellen says, “I appreciate Danny Jansen because he makes good catches. He also looks cool in the catcher’s outfit, and that motivates me.
Maddux says, “I enjoy the whole team because they get to wear the fancy home run jacket when they hit a home run.

According to Povhe, the team’s accomplishments contribute to the expansion of the sport in Saskatoon.
“We claim that our numbers increased in 2016–17 as a result of their success in 2015–16.”
2013 saw about 800 youth register with Baseball Saskatoon. This year, he claimed, there were nearly 2,200 children.
The president of the group claims, “Other zones in the province talk about the Blue Jay effect, and it surely is beneficial, but Saskatoon – the whole town is getting more and more into baseball.

Povhe continues, “(We) made it simple for parents, and kids just became hooked on the game.
Some city-based small enterprises are pleased with the team’s success. Sara Fleming, an Olympia Sports salesperson, claims that since Toronto secured their playoff position, store traffic has increased.
“When we first started the season, the racks in the rear there were stocked with jerseys and t-shirts. Simply because so many people are coming in to buy things, we don’t currently have a lot of inventory.

Fleming anticipates that baseball equipment will sell off the shelf more quickly than it did previously.
Fleming says, “Not just us but like the pubs will get busier too and restaurants. Being a local store really helps us out.”
Many people think so, and the Canadian baseball team keeps winning, fostering the sport’s growth across the prairies.
Blake Suchan stated, “The Blue Jays are incredibly good at it (baseball), and so it kind of said to me, “You can play it.”

The Suchan siblings have one very crucial reminder no matter where or how you watch.
“Jays, go, go!”
