The Yemeni army announces the downing of two Houthi marches in Marib

On Friday, the Yemeni army reported that it had destroyed two Houthi drones on the southern front of the Marib Governorate on the previous day.
And on Wednesday, the Yemeni army’s information department said that a Houthi drone had been shot down by the army’s air defences south of Marib.
The cease-fire in Yemen, which expired last Sunday, was not extended internationally.

The armistice in Yemen concluded on October 2; despite ongoing efforts by international and UN parties to extend it, the UN Security Council voiced displeasure in not doing so.
The council members praised the Yemeni government’s participation in the efforts of the UN envoy to Yemen, he added, according to a statement posted by the Norwegian embassy to the UN on its Twitter account on Wednesday.

The Houthis’ “exaggerated demands in the latter days of the discussions impeded the efforts of the international organisation to broker the deal, risking negative consequences,” they emphasised, “but they also hampered the work of the international organisation.”
The Yemeni sides decided to prolong the ceasefire for two more months under the same conditions, from August 2 to October 2, 2022, the UN stated on August 2.

This prolongation followed a prior UN armistice that went into force in April 2022 and was in place for a two-month period on all fronts of conflict in Yemen. Governorates to allow two flights to and from Sanaa International Airport each week, increase the freedom of movement of people throughout Yemen, and make it easier for 18 ships carrying petroleum to dock at Hodeidah in the west of the country.

Two Houthi marches were shot down in Marib, according to the Yemeni army.
