Taiz..a civilian was wounded by a Houthi sniper

The first civilian casualty since the truce’s breakdown and Houthi militia’s refusal to extend it on October 2 occurred Thursday night in Taiz, a city in southwest Yemen, when a civilian was hit by a sniper’s bullet fired by the Houthis.
According to Yemeni media reports, Waheeb Abu Bakr al-Yafei, 21, was shot by a Houthi sniper while he was close to his home in the Bareed al-Rawda district in the city’s north.

According to the reports, a Houthi sniper positioned in the Central Security Camp above the Kalaba neighbourhood fired shots at the area and specifically targeted the young Al-Yafei, who was treated nearby at Al-Safwa Hospital.
The young man was sent to intensive care for treatment after being shot in the stomach, according to a medical source, and suffered serious injuries.

Instead of sometimes striking residential areas with artillery, Houthi militia snipers in Taiz specifically target civilians close to the lines of contact.
Since the beginning of the UN truce in early April, the Houthi militia has been conducting sniping operations and artillery attacks in various parts of the besieged city of Taiz for eight years, killing and injuring about 90 civilians, the most of whom were children and women.
