Sisi’s advisor reveals the way to overcome the impact of the dollar on medicines and the emigration of doctors

Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, the Egyptian President’s advisor for health matters, disclosed that the Egyptian Medicines Authority is developing some particular drug formulations to ensure that the value of the dollar has no bearing on imported medicines.
The majority of drugs in Egypt are produced locally, Awad Taj El-Din added in a phone interview with the “Decision Makers” programme on the Sada El-Balad satellite channel on Thursday night.

And the President of the Republic’s Advisor for Health and Prevention Affairs stated that while there won’t be a general increase in the price of medicines, there may be modest increases in particular categories, noting that many medications have locally produced substitutes made in Egyptian factories.

Awad Taj El-Din remarked that the population increase is true if every couple has two children, thus these rates will happen. This was in response to the population census breaking the 104 million barrier and its effect on devouring future investments.

The age group of people who are about to get married, between the ages of 18 and 25, makes up a significant portion of the population, according to the President of the Republic’s advisor on health and prevention issues. He explained that this trend has a negative impact on the family, the nation, the national income, and the services offered to citizens.

Because it affects the citizen, the family, the state, and the national revenue, Awad Taj al-Din emphasised the significance of limiting population growth.
The President of the Republic’s advisor on health and prevention issues stated that as the population grows, more of the essential services, including housing, health care, and immunizations, are consumed; but, if the population grows less, these services can be utilised more effectively.

According to Awad Taj El-Din, Egypt has 177 pharmaceutical production enterprises, and the government encourages these businesses to boost production in order to close the gap between residents’ healthcare demands and population growth.

Regarding the emigration of doctors, the Presidential Adviser for Health and Prevention Affairs noted that President Sisi had issued a stimulus package for doctors and medical staff, in order to improve their incomes and address their issues, and that the state has started a plan to train doctors and give them the qualified certificate.
