Seoul, Washington and Tokyo: North Korean missile provocations are a violation of Security Council resolutions

In separate phone conversations, senior nuclear envoys from South Korea, the US, and Japan sharply denounced North Korea’s recent string of missile provocations.
In a statement quoted by the South Korean News Agency on Thursday, the South Korean Foreign Ministry confirmed that the three parties had urged North Korea to immediately cease its provocations and had denounced the most recent round of ballistic missile launches as a flagrant breach of several UN Security Council resolutions.

The three officials also concurred to step up their bilateral and trilateral collaboration to resolutely counter North Korea’s nuclear and missile threats, according to the statement.

As the provocation came two days after an Intermediate-Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) was launched over Japan, Special Representative for Peace and Security on the Korean Peninsula Kim Jong-un and his US counterpart Sung Kim expressed “serious concerns” about Pyongyang’s test of two short-range ballistic missiles (SRBM) during the call.
Similar phone conversations were also had by the South Korean representative with his Japanese counterpart, Takehiro Funakoshi.

North Korea’s provocative missile launches are against Security Council resolutions, say Seoul, Washington, and Tokyo.
