Russia escalates its attack on Zaporizhia as Ukrainians advance

While Ukrainian forces advanced in the nation’s northeast, the Russian military stepped up its assault on the city of Zaporizhia in southeast Ukraine, Bloomberg reported on Friday. At least 12 people were killed during the two-day operation.
Today, Friday, the Regional Military Administration said on its Telegram channel that Zaporizhia, a regional hub with a pre-war population of over 700,000 people, was the first place to be attacked by Iranian-made Shahed-136 aircraft during the night.

Additionally, nine “S-300” missiles from Russia were launched, hitting homes, businesses, autos, and medical facilities.
According to Ukrainian authorities, the attacks come after a Russian missile attack on September 30 that left at least 26 people dead close to the city.
The attack was seen by Ukrainian authorities as a retaliation to the massive counterattack launched in the northeastern and eastern portions of the country in the Kharkiv and Donetsk provinces.
