Injury rules out Pedro Neto from Portugal’s World Cup squad

Wolverhampton midfielder Pedro Neto will not be participating in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar due to injury. “Pedro suffered an ankle injury against West Ham United last Saturday, as he suffered from a strain in the collateral ligaments,” Wolverhampton said in a statement released today.
The English club’s statement continued, “Following another evaluation and a specialist visit this week, he is set to have surgery, which means he won’t be ready for the upcoming World Cup.

Portugal, Uruguay, South Korea, and Ghana are all in Group H for the World Cup.
The World Cup finals will begin on November 20 in Qatar, and Portugal’s tournament debut will be on November 24 in Group H versus Ghana.
Portugal’s highest tournament finish was third place in the 1966 tournament, and the team advanced to the Round of 16 at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
