With a new function named “Photo Mode,” Tik Tok imitates Instagram in a recent development. With the change, users of TikTok can now publish several still photos along with captions that are up to 2,200 characters long.
Users’ For You pages will display fresh photo posts—which may also include music—alongside videos.
According to Engadget, TikTok wrote in a blog post that it hoped Photo Mode, which combines the recently increased character limit, will enable creators to “express themselves and connect more deeply with others.”
However, Photo Mode also adds Instagram-like features to the For You page in maybe less inventive ways. Mashable claims that producers are already using the ability to distribute repeated text memes and other material that is frequently popular on… Instagram.
But given that Instagram has been competing with the TikTok Rails clone for users’ attention, the fact that TikTok is now mimicking the original Instagram concept is very interesting. In terms of daily watch time, TikTok continues to greatly outpace Instagram Rails, according to a recent article in The Wall Street Journal.
Tik Tok, after all, provides the Instagram Photo Mode function.
