Elon Musk, the firm’s founder, stated on Twitter that building of the Tesla Semi semi truck has begun and that the company will start sending shipments on December 1.
In 2017, the manufacturer announced the Tesla Semi, and by 2019, it was anticipated to begin producing huge electric excavators.
Even though it’s obvious that didn’t happen, Musk informed staff in an email sent to employees in the beginning of 2020 that the automobile was already being produced in a small quantity and that it was “time to do everything we can to get to Tesla Semi production.”
However, the manufacturer said on an earnings call in April of that year that it was delaying delivery once more until 2021.
Sadly, neither 2021 nor the Semi truck saw success. Due to worldwide supply chain limitations affecting the technology and automotive industries as well as its then-restricted production capacity for its 4680-style car battery cells, Tesla informed shareholders on another earnings call that deliveries would be postponed until 2022.
Musk hasn’t specifically stated that the company’s concerns with component shortages for the semi-truck have been resolved. However, if it has begun producing cars and a delivery date has been set, Tesla need to have enough components on hand to construct Semis for its initial clients.
