At least 18 migrants die off Greek islands

According to reports from Greece on Thursday, at least 18 migrants perished in two different incidents on Wednesday while attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea into Europe.
Strong gusts caused a boat off the coast of Lesbos carrying 40 migrants, all of whom were believed to be women, to capsize. According to Greece’s coast guard, 16 dead had been discovered by Thursday morning.
According to reports, nine individuals were saved, while 15 women are still being sought after by boats and aircraft.

Strong gusts caused a boat carrying 95 migrants to smash into a cliff late on Wednesday off the coast of Kythira.
By Thursday morning, two bodies had been discovered in addition to the 80 individuals who had been saved, according to rescuers.
Following the catastrophe, videos of people attempting to climb the cliff were widely shared. Rescue efforts are still ongoing today.
