Amnesty International: 82 Baloch people were killed in the Zahedan protests in Iran

Amnesty International said Thursday that at least 82 people had died since Friday as a result of the suppression of protests in the city of Zahedan in the province of Sistan-Baluchestan in southeast Iran.

According to the organisation, “Iranian security forces have unlawfully killed at least 66 people, including children, and injured hundreds of others after they opened fire” on protesters, bystanders, and worshipers. It went on to say that “since then, 16 other people have been killed in separate incidents in Zahedan in the context of The continued repression of these demonstrations.”

On the other side, the European Parliament urged Brussels to put sanctions on Iranian officials responsible for Mahsa Amini’s death and the repression of the protests that followed her passing in Iran on Thursday.
Three weeks ago, Mahsa Amini’s death while being held by the “morality police” sparked widespread public protests throughout Iran, which eventually grew into a national social movement.

According to Amnesty International, 82 Baloch individuals died during the Iranian protests in Zahedan.
