Amazon stops testing delivery robots to cut costs

Amazon decided to discontinue live testing of its delivery robot, Amazon Scout, after the US retailer concluded that the software did not completely match the expectations of its consumers.
Alyssa Carroll, a spokeswoman for the company, said that “Amazon” will not completely abandon the project and that the company is currently working to reduce or “reset” the programme. She added that the company will work with relevant employees to redistribute them to other available jobs within the company.

The business started testing the compact, refrigerator-sized Scout robot in Washington state in 2019 before extending to Southern California, Georgia, and Tennessee. Scout glides quickly along pavements.
According to Bloomberg, the corporation is starting to wind down experimental initiatives to reduce costs in the wake of sluggish sales growth. This latest indication is the closure of the Scout programme.

Additionally, the e-commerce behemoth noticed a dip in online demand, particularly when many customers started using more conventional shopping methods as a result of Corona’s demise.

To save money, Amazon stops testing delivery robots.
