A sad surprise.. Car exhaust reaches the fetus’s lung in its mother’s womb

Researchers from Belgium and Britain reported in their study that they discovered pollutants in the lungs of several unborn foetuses. They suggested that these pollutants enter the placenta through the mother’s blood and then travel to the fetus’s organs.
According to the study, pregnant women who reside in the most polluted locations run the chance of having a stillbirth.

Tim Nauroot, a professor at the University of Aberdeen in Britain, said: “We know that exposure to polluted air during pregnancy and lactation is related with mortality at birth, premature birth, low birth weight, and impaired brain development, with effects throughout life.”

Sad news, surprise. The fetus’s lung in its mother’s womb is exposed to car exhaust.
