According to Durham Regional Police, a multi-vehicle accident that occurred near Ajax on Friday afternoon left one person dead and two others hospitalised.
According to police, they were called to the location in the vicinity of Taunton Road and Harwood Avenue around 2:47 PM.
Two victims with potentially fatal injuries were sent to trauma centres in Toronto, according to the police’s initial report.
A woman died at the site, a guy was rushed to a trauma centre in Toronto, and a third person was taken to a nearby hospital, according to a police update.
Police stated that one of the involved automobiles in the collision overturned.
A call for an Ornge air ambulance to the scene was cancelled.
The incident is currently being investigated by Durham police’s collision investigation team.
Road closures are in place, so officers have advised that motorists stay away from the area.
