Zelensky confirms gains in the south and liberation of dozens of towns

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, his army is moving “rapidly and firmly” in the south after retaking “dozens” of towns from the Russians this week.
He stated, “Within the context of the current defence operation, the Ukrainian army is moving fast and powerfully in the south of the country,” in his daily statement posted on social media.

The Kherson, Kharkiv, Lugansk, and Donetsk areas are where these places are located, he added, adding that “dozens of population centres were liberated this week alone.”
According to maps released by the Russian Defense Ministry, which show the most recent victories of the Ukrainian counteroffensive in the territories occupied by Moscow, Zelensky’s remarks were made as the Russian army was retreating on Tuesday in the Kharkiv region (northeast) and also in the Kherson region (south).

Comparing these maps to those released the day before, it was clear that Russian soldiers left many locations, including Dudchane, which is situated on the western bank of the Dnieper River, while the Ukrainian army started a counterattack there.
While estimates from the West and Ukraine place the number of Russian forces stationed in this area at around 20,000.

In order to cut off the Russian supply lines, the Ukrainian troops have recently concentrated their fire on Russian fortifications and warehouses on the right bank of the Dnieper River as well as on the bridges extending on this river.
The eastern bank of the Oskil River, the remaining territory that Russian soldiers still held in the area, was nearly entirely abandoned, according to the map of the Kharkiv region in northeastern Ukraine.

But neither a withdrawal nor a remark on the retreat indicated by the maps have been made by the Russian military.

Gains in the south and the liberation of numerous towns are confirmed by Zelensky.
