The US is pushing to convene a meeting of the UN Security Council in reaction to recent missile tests by North Korea, one of which saw a missile fly over Japan.
A request for the Wednesday meeting of the most significant UN body is reportedly about to be made, according to a diplomat.
The 15-member council’s ability to meet on Wednesday is in doubt because October 5 is a regular United Nations holiday that can be taken or ignored.
