The United States: We will not stand idly by in the face of North Korea’s threats

In the event that North Korea threatens Washington and its allies, the United States stated that it “would not stand quietly by,” highlighting its openness for discussion with Pyongyang.
United States Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas Greenfield stated during a UN Security Council meeting on Wednesday that “the United States is committed to dialogue and diplomacy notwithstanding the lack of cooperation from North Korea.”

She continued, “At the same time, if North Korea directly threatens the United States and our partners across the world, the United States will not sit quietly by.”
Despite recent differences, she continued, “we think we can still come together, as we did earlier to unanimity respond to North Korea’s provocations.”
This is in light of North Korea’s ballistic missile launch on Tuesday morning that landed near Japan’s exclusive economic zone.
