Tehran: Release of about half of the “riots” detainees

Tehran has announced the release of around half of those detained in connection with recent “riots” that broke out following the news that Mahsa Amini, a young woman, had died in custody and after she was detained by the “moral police.” And Gholam Ali Mohammadi, the nation’s chief trainer, stated that “nearly half of the recent riot detainees were released from prisons.

“People who had a substantial and organised role in the recent disturbances will not be released,” Mohammadi said during a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary with the chiefs of justices in the provincial centres.
According to the agency, the meeting’s head of the judiciary gave orders for all provinces’ court authorities to prioritise looking into “the case of persons who face significant charges during the recent riots because of its deterring effect on society.”

Tehran: The majority of the “riots” detainees have been released.
