Especially in light of the “defeats” he had over the past few days in Ukraine, a top Duma deputy made furious words that were previously unheard of that detonated a bomb in the face of the Russian army.
On Wednesday, senior lawmaker Andrei Kartapolov, chairman of the State Duma’s defence committee, urged the army to “stop lying.”
“People know everything, our people are not stupid,” he declared.
According to AFP, “He also stated that Russian civilians see and know that the army is concealing the truth, or does not even want to tell them part of it, which may result in a loss of credibility” by the nation’s troops.
This vehement address was delivered after the last few days saw the Ukrainian army make notable military gains over the Russian army in both the east and south of the nation.
The Ukrainian governor of the Lugansk region (east), which was previously entirely under the jurisdiction of Moscow, declared a significant breach following the Russian departure from Lyman in Donetsk. Sergey Gaidai announced in a video uploaded on Telegram earlier today that “it is now official, the process of terminating the occupation of the Lugansk region has begun, after numerous towns were liberated from the grip of the Russian army.” Gaidai did not provide any other information.
In addition to reporting that nearly the entire Kharkiv region (northeast) is now under Ukrainian control, Kiev reported a breach in the north of the southern Kherson region on Tuesday. This opened the way for Lugansk, the rebel stronghold Moscow deployed there since 2014.
The Ukrainians were defeated in Kherson, according to Russian officials, who also emphasised that they were getting ready for a retaliatory counterattack that would allow them to retake the locations from which they had withdrawn to the east and south.
It is significant that these field achievements dealt a severe blow to Moscow, which had just recently announced the annexation of the areas of Kherson, Zaporizhia, Lugansk, and Donetsk.
