After a successful search on Facebook, an Egyptian woman discovered her relatives after more than 50 years and paid them a visit!
The story began in the 1970s when Reda, a little child, left with her mother Tahia Owais, who sells vegetables in the market in the city of Al-Fashn.
Once out of sight, the child left her mother to play and boarded a train to Upper Egypt, where she eventually settled in Luxor, far from her family.
She grew up there in the boundaries of a family she happened to come across at the time, lived there till she got married and had a large family, and then, when she was more over 50 years old, she went back to missing her family and started looking for them on Facebook.
She started looking for her family on Facebook through various videos, till she came to know them in the Beni Suef Governorate and called them.

Reda claimed that at her first encounter with her mother, she felt as if she were still a young child who had been missing her mother’s warm embrace for fifty years.
She continued, “I was living in Luxor as if I were among my family, so I did not feel for a moment that she was a stranger to them, but rather felt that she was their daughter, sister, and mother, and they were the best parents to her.” She added that, despite all those years, she had not forgotten her real family and had not given up hope of one day finding them.
Contrarily, in the city of El Fashn in Beni Suef Governorate, where Reda’s family resides, joy was contagious following her discovery and appearance in videos on Facebook.
The mother, Tahia Owais Ahmed, responded by claiming that her 5-year-old daughter got lost and vanished at the market, following which the family travelled far in an effort to find her.
Until her brother astonished her by telling her that he had located a woman with the same specifications as her missing daughter, when she emerged on Facebook, she said she had not given up hope of finding her and that her heart was telling her that she was alive.
She said that she did not believe until she heard her daughter’s voice on the phone and felt her spirit return to her. She added that she will take her family to Luxor to see her daughter and return with her and her children after a 50-year separation.
